Full-Time Executive Assistant to the Artistic Director


Cry Havoc Theater Company’s mission is to create provocative theatre with young people and, in doing so, to challenge audience expectations of what youth theatre can be. Cry Havoc fulfills its mission by creating original theatre with teens around issues of social justice and by engaging the Dallas community in dialogue on the plays we create. The company was recently awarded the 2018 National Community Impact Award from TYA/USA, and the company’s most recent verbatim theatre piece about guns in America, Babel, was named one of the best new plays in Dallas by the D-FW Theater Critics Forum.



Cry Havoc Theater Company seeks a highly organized, self-motivated individual with impeccable people skills to support the Founder/Artistic Director in all aspects of running the nonprofit organization. The successful candidate will be a Jack/Jill of all trades and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities. Additionally, the successful candidate will comfortably interface with high-level donors and board members while representing the organization within the Dallas community.



  • Bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years of previous, high-level administrative experience

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience with macOS and G Suite essential. Experience with fundraising software such as Bloomerang, and newsletter software such as MailChimp considered assets.

  • Ability to multitask while prioritizing workload to ensure deadlines are met

  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours during peak periods, including occasional nights and weekends as needed

  • Passion for youth development, for the arts, and for building a safer and more equitable world



  • Draft correspondence to donors, board members, community partners, and other stakeholders to be sent by the Artistic Director

  • Help organize and maintain Artistic Director’s email and calendar, fielding and responding to requests that do not require the Artistic Director’s attention

  • Prepare monthly expense reports, obtaining receipts as needed, and work with the bookkeeper each month to reconcile

  • Maintain all donor and funder files as well as the fundraising database (Bloomerang)

  • Oversee the distribution and collection of all required paperwork from students, independent artists, and vendors, following-up regularly as needed

  • Serve as an ambassador of the organization at selected events including performances and community meetings

  • Run errands for the organization, as needed (the organization reimburses at the current IRS mileage rate)

  • Assist with special projects as needed


This position is full-time (35-40 hours per week). Salary range $38,000 – $43,000, commensurate with experience. Generous benefits package including employer-provided insurance (health and dental) and paid vacation.
